This is one of my favorite things. I look forward to each new day so I can open an envelope and hang a treasure on the board. I first saw a variation of this several years ago in a magazine. I made 6-8 that year for my bazaar and for family. Each one unique. I want to make more. Some have been 12 day countdowns and they are just as cute. This has become one of my special holiday traditions. Merry Christmas to me every morning for 24 days!!

Funnel Fun
Last year around holiday time I saw some really different trees in a couple of magazines. They were made out of funnels. I thought they were pretty cute so I started my quest to find some. A lot harder than you'd think and a little on the spendy side ($3-$6). I didn't find any as big as I wanted either. Who knew they were so rare...either that or everyone saw they same magazines and were on the lookout too.
Here are my completed trees and they fit right in with my other kitchen decor. Feel free to use this idea and happy hunting.

Inspiration
I went to some of my favorite stores to see what's new in the crafting world. I wanted some inspiration. Hobby Lobby, Craft Warehouse, Michaels, even Target, Shopko and Fred Meyer have nice holiday items and displays. I really like the lighted branches that are at all the craft stores now. I need some for next year so I will have to watch for them to be on sale. Here they are used in a floral display in this glass vase. Very elegant looking.

My "Craft" Room
Here's how my earlier project turned out. It is in the room all filled up. This room is small but very welcoming and fun to be in. I've already been busy in here. The computer is also in this room so I am in here a lot. I love my space.
I'm always buying dressers. In fact we just brought one back from the coast. We bought our Dodge Journey so we would have room to haul dressers. We managed to SQUEEZE one in our Neon backseat on a previous trip so that was the requirement for a new car...it had to be able to hold a dresser. Anyway this old one is in my craft room. I wanted storage other that totes and boxes. I have this one and another one in the closet. Then there is a third one in the closet of the spare bedroom for all my scrapbooking things.

The Barn
I dropped in on this show last Saturday. It was set up so well. The displays were nice. The small space is well used. I missed the donuts because at 9:00 when it opened I saw the crowd and thought I would go a little later. Next time I'll join the crowd. The Barn is going to open for another weekend on Nov. 5 so if you missed this time you have another chance. Sister Shic has items there. Try to make it!

Collections
What do you collect? I have several items I look for and pick up whenever I am at an antique or junking show. I have metal cookie cutters, jello molds, tart tins, flower frogs, vintage postcards, buttons, crochet pot holders and these spools. I always think I have enough until I see one I don't have. It's like a treasure hunt at a big show. Round and round until you've seen it all. Gareld wonders how I can spend 9 hours looking at antiques and go back for a second day!

We heard about this show in Stanfield with only a couple weeks to prepare and we went for it anyway. These girls hosted a really nice weekend. We have our foot in the door of the "vintage junking" business. We hope to take this far and have our own show here some day.
Our first venture out to a show was a huge success. It was great!
Isn't this lamp shabby chic cute! Sandra made it and so many people loved it but no one splurged and bought it at this sale. Didn't want it to go to cheap so it can be admired at another show.
Here's another crafty creation from Sandra.

Oh my goodness, these fountain pumps were the hit of the show on Saturday.
